FAQ

Is SmartFIT Right For you?

The best part of SmartFIT is its ability to work for everyone, regardless of their current level of health. Our Classes are programmed to be scalable. We can increase your level of fitness no matter how out of shape you are. If you’re a trained, competition-level athlete, we can make you better. If that’s not your cup of tea, we offer Personal Training Sessions as well.

The community aspect in our cross training classes is highly underrated and an important part of SmartFIT. Once you experience the support of your fellow athletes, encouraging you, cheering you as you finish a workout, you’ll wonder why you didn’t join sooner.

You cannot achieve these results on your own. SmartFIT Classes work because you get results, its fun and you aren’t working out by yourself.  Sharing your workouts with others, enjoying what you’re doing and getting the results you hoped for means you’ll keep coming back.

SmartFIT is more than a gym or a place to work out, it’s a community of people dedicated to improving their lives, health, and physical ability.

We are mothers and fathers who want the strength to care for their children and be active again.

We are grandparents and senior citizens that want to fight off major health threats while retaining the ability to live independently and enjoy longer and fuller lives.

We are competitive athletes, soldiers, police and firefighters looking for the edge in competitive sports, at work, or on the field of combat.

We are children and teens who are getting introduced to healthy fitness habits early in life.

We are all Athletes.

Anyone can do SmartFIT Classes, and that includes you. That’s right; regardless of the physical condition you are in when you start. Our Cross Training method has been used successfully for everyone from competitive athletes, to grandparents, to disabled veterans, allowing everyone with a desire to improve their physical well being, regardless of age or physical condition to “Discover their Inner Athlete”

The “workout of the day” or the “WOD” that we perform every day in our facility often looks like hard work, but the workout is only as hard as you make it. Our program will challenge you every day in new ways, never allowing you to slip into a routine.

With the help of a fun and supportive environment, and with a team of highly knowledgeable trainers, we can help you achieve the best results of your life. You provide the effort and we guarantee results!

What are the membership terms?

Traditional gyms force you to sign a yearly contract and hope you don’t really show up. We don’t require contracts. If it’s your intention to sign and not show, then SmartFIT isn’t for you. We’re looking for people who are tired of trying and not succeeding, tired of hoping there’s an easy way to reach their goals. We’re looking for people who want real change and are willing to do what it takes to make a difference in their lives. If you give us 100%, we’ll give it back. Sign up for a month, three months, a year, or the rest of your life. Just show up!

Why do classes cost so much?

We give you everything a personal trainer is giving you at a fraction of the cost but also  give you something you can’t get with a PT – “a community.”

Being unhealthy and overweight is expensive. Doctor visits, prescription drugs and surgeries are expensive. The money spent to maintain or regain your health is a smart investment in your future. Consult your doctor before starting any fitness or nutrition program. We can accommodate any fitness level, and can usually work around limitations, but your ability to do our program is a decision between you and your doctor.

Who needs a trainer?

1. Proper Form & Technique: As children we all move effortlessly. It is second nature to us. Over time, however; we move less and sit more. A good trainer instructs you on proper technique, teaches you strength training and muscle recruitment, mobility routines, and drills. All of this will lead to a stronger, and a more efficient body movement. When you are moving more efficiently, you look better, and enjoy life more.

2. Injury Prevention: The single biggest setback for a person’s overall fitness level is injury. Most running publications state nearly 80% of all runners experience at least one injury which will sideline them for several days each year. 80%! That number is ridiculous. What if we said out of everyone who drives a car, 80% of us would have at least one accident each year. We would all agree that is entirely too high, and we would call for laws to lower the accident rate. So why is an 80% injury rate OK? At SmartFIT, we will guide you through injury prevention and recovery, helping you increase your success and achieve the results you want.

3. Motivation/Support/Outside Perspective: There is an old legal saying which states, “A man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client.” It is not meant to be derogatory, but it is stating you need an outside perspective to help you achieve your goals. At SmartFIT, we believe in setting goals. In order to hit those goals, you need a trainer to provide motivation, day in and day out, to get you through your training. They provide the support required when you are tired and not sure if you can reach your goal. They objectively review your training and let you know what is, and is not, working. Your trainer is both your biggest cheerleader, and the person who administers some tough love when needed.

4. Individualized: This is one of the biggest reasons you should hire a trainer. Anyone can download a generic workout plan online, or pull one out of a book, but those plans are all designed to be middle of the road. When a one-size-fits-all plan is created, it has to take into account advanced fitness levels and the beginner. To achieve relative success, it plots a course right down the middle. What if the instructions on that plan are not the right thing for you? How would you know? SmartFIT Trainers will know. A SmartFIT trainer will never work off of a template. 100% of our training plans are built from scratch and customized to our members. How many days a week of training, which days, the intensity, cardio, mobility, and strength training are all included for you specifically.

5. Improved Performance: This one is really simple. Time and time again, studies have shown that hiring a trainer will lead to improved performance at a much faster rate than by training on your own. Whether you are interested in running your first race, from a 5k to a marathon, becoming stronger, or you just want to lose body fat and become fitter to break through that plateau, a SmartFIT Trainer will help you do so.

What to look for in a trainer:

1. Certifications: They are not the end all, beat all requirement, but it is a good place to start. You should ask your trainer what type of certifications they have, and then do some research on what those certifications involve. At SmartFIT, every trainer is required to attend yearly training to stay abreast of the latest techniques and philosophies. We believe we should continually learn about our craft so we can offer our members the most advanced “smart” training programs and methods available.

2. Insurance: This may sound like an odd question to ask a trainer, but it touches on one major issue, credibility. Knowing that your trainer is fully insured lets you know that they are operating as a legitimate business entity and they have taken the necessary steps to protect you, the member.

3. Testimonials: Just click on over to our members page and you will see the kind of results that we produce. A good trainer with a good program produces good results.
